With so many amazing ski destinations in Canada, it's easy to see how even the most dedicated powder hound could be satisfied by staying in Canada. However, if you are one of many Canadians who live closer to the US border than to the Western resorts, you may be looking for some options on alternate Eastern resorts. Lucky for you, many US resorts offer incentives for Canadian skiers.

Jay Peak is just barely over the border between Vermont and Quebec (in fact, it's so close there's a good chance you'll get a better cell signal from your Canadian carrier!) and it has offered deals to Canadians for many years. Currently, Jay Peak has a number of at par offers, all of which require a cash transaction. Visitors can either book a vacation package (hotel, lift tickets etc), which can be paid for 50% at par on arrival, or may buy individual attraction tickets (lift tickets, water park passes, and even the new climbing gym) completely at par. Just remember, all at par must be in cash - all cards are charged in USD, regardless of where the card is from.

Smugglers Notch
Smugglers Notch, which is just south of Jay Peak, also advertises a ski at par promotion to attract Canadian skiers. However, guests should be aware that the promotion is only available on vacation packages (so not just lift tickets) and that the deal is actually 25% off the bill, rather than a true at par. Given that the current exchange rate is less than favourable, the 25% off doesn't really amount to at par at all, however, it is still a savings.

Bristol Mountain
While the "mountain" part of the resort name is up for debate, this resort offers a fun change of pace. Located south-east of Rochester, in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, this resort has a great deal for Canadians. You can purchase 69$ CDN tickets, with no blackout dates, ahead of time in either St. Catherine's or Blue Mountain. Just be aware there are limited accommodation options, so you'll want to book your room ahead of time if you aren't planning to drive home after your day at the slopes.

Titus Mountain
A relaxed ski resort, south-east of Cornwall, Titus offers Canadians the option of booking ski-and-stay packages at par. As with Jay Peak, all at par transactions must be made with cash, so be sure to plan ahead. There are three terrain parks at the resort, and it is generally very uncrowded.

Holiday Valley
This Ellicottville resort is very close to the Canadian border and tends to have a lot of snow all season long. Although they accept Canadian cash and cheques at a favourable exchange rate ($0.80), they only offer true at par specials at specific times of year. If you are able to ski midweek, they have an amazing deal twice this winter on "cabin fever" tickets, which must be purchased in Canada ahead of time, for only $25.99.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
Jackson Hole offers special ski-and-stay packages for Canadians that are discounted to reflect the exchange rate (as of August 2018). Although you are likely still going to see a difference in price, you may be able to swing some extra savings if you qualify for their $200 airfare credit.

Sweitzer Moutain
Schweizter Moutain is located south-west of Calgary, in Idaho. With nine lifts and minimal lines, Schweizter has a lot to offer visitors. Although it's village is much smaller than the Banff region resorts, it still has plenty of options for Apres Ski and Kids' activities (although no water park!) Sweitzer doesn't advertise a Canadian at par package, but we confirmed they still accept Canadian cash at par at the resort (they request you bring smaller bills).
